OKOK! 我知道blog荒廢很久了I thought this would be another feel-good romantic comedy that only sounds good in theory, but I was pleasantly surprised. Music and Lyrics is a thoroughly enjoyable movie. It kept me laughing the whole way through. Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore were completely adorable. Wonderful, wonderful, infectious soundtrack. Can't wait for the bonus feature on DVD forever from now!
I really liked the chemistry between Hugh and Drew. I don't even like Hugh Grant normally, but he really led the way with his slightly bitter, self-deprecating yet happy pop star.
It is nice to see Drew Barrymore shine again. I just marvel at the fact that she continues the great Barrymore tradition.
I didn’t like the whole Cora thing myself, but it’s nice to see some fresh dialogue were delivered properly. Cora to me seemed like a direct copy of Shakira, Britney and Paris Hilton. She was just a mix of everything ridiculous out there. This is Haley Bennet’s debute, and she really did act like a mega star. It's a parody of today's pop divas, but at the same time, she didn't come off like a total joke. Credit to the writer and Bennet for that. I think the whole Buddhism thing was meant to mock all celebs that take up weird religions without even believing them just because they seem exotic. That’s why she reminded me of Madonna and Kabbalah stuff.
The music is what sets Music & Lyrics apart from other rom-coms. Pop Goes My Heart is so catchy. My favorite part is "You are gold, and silverrrr! I can't get that song out of my head! Way Back into Love is good too. Every actor used their real singing voice. I saw an interview with Hugh and he said he took piano and singing lessons for the movie. The lyrics of Entering Bootytown are hilarious too. Even the title itself is funny.
I have the soundtrack on my iPod so I never get it out of my head!
